Celebrating National Book Lover’s Day // 3 Reasons Why I Love Books

Hello everyone. Today, August 9th is National Book Lover’s Day! As a bookworm, I am quite excited and very happy that there is a National Day for me! I will be celebrating by showing you 3 reasons why I love books. Enjoy!

Reason 1: Books Are Entertaining

There’s nothing better than sitting down on a cozy chair and diving into a wonderful book, right? I could easily spend hours skimming my bookcase, and then sitting down to read. Books tell exciting stories full of vivid detail that spark imagination. Pirates sailing on the sea. Princesses escaping towers.

When you open a book, there is a world waiting for you. Page by page, word by word, it develops into a magical universe where anything can happen. Even in books that are deemed “boring” like biographies, anything is possible. If that persons life wasn’t interesting in some way, there wouldn’t be a biography about it. The point is that books are unpredictable, fun, and very entertaining!

Or at least in Snoopy’s opinion…

Reason 2: Books Are Educational

Think about the benefits of watching TV.

It’s entertaining.

Ok, fair enough.

Books are also entertaining.

And educational.

Studies have shown that staying mentally stimulated can slow the progress of (or possibly even prevent) Alzheimer’s and Dementia, since keeping your brain active and engaged prevents it from losing power. Not only that, but research also suggests that reading daily can dramatically improve vocabulary, stronger analytical skills, and memory.

As you can see, reading every day, even for just a little while, has great benefits.

Reason 3: Books Have Meaning

Books tell stories. Stories of moral and meaning and truth. Stories that spread goodness. There is something indescribable about the feeling of earthy pages between your fingers. Stories teach lessons (think Mother Goose) and help shape youth. As you grow up, they are still there to remind you what really matters. Whenever I have a hard day or am faced with a challenge in my life, I often lean on books. *Not on bookshelves though…I don’t want falling furniture*

I lose myself and rediscover myself again, getting lost and found in the rolling waves of the plot and story. Books have always been there.

They are truly meaningful.

Happy National Book Lover’s Day, to all who wish to expand their knowledge in the best way possible – – through the pages of a book.
