Fangirl

All in all, Fangirl delivered. I was a light and sweet read with amazing characters. It was very enjoyable and fun to read. The romance was cute, and it was executed very well. The only criticism I had was that the plot was a little bit mixed up in some parts, but otherwise, this book was perfect. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes romance novels, college stories, or just so happens to be a fangirl themselves. *Just like me*

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Childrenwas a wonderful first installment. (There are three more books in the series, which I haven’t read yet but is definitely on my TBR list).

I was amazing in almost every aspect of my rating system, and did not disappoint. The only thing that I would every change about this book is to have the pacing be faster in the beginning, but it would have likely been difficult because the start of the book sets the stage for all of the plot twists in the middle and end.

I strongly recommend this book, especially to those who like horror, mystery, or a unique book in general.

Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban

This book was one of the most moving novels I have ever read. Malala’s story is truly inspiring and makes you think about how you can help change the world for the better. This is one of my favorite auto-biographies. Malala’s voice is so clear throughout the story, and she truly is a phenomenal role model. If you haven’t already read this, I highly recommend that you pick it up, as soon as you can! It is a beautiful story and Malala is someone who I look up to.

When Audrey Met Alice

This was short but cute read about a young girl living in the White House (named Audrey) and her finding and reading the diary of Alice Roosevelt. The more Audrey reads Alice’s diary, the more she aspires to be like her, independent and fierce and the more rebellious she becomes. Soon, Audrey finds herelf breakig numerous rules and getting herself into big trouble. Overall, I would say that this book is very enjoyable to read, but there’s not much about it that stands out.

I haven’t been very active in the blogosphere lately, but here are some posts from this month that I found enjoyable.

I won’t be able to participate in the readathon, but it sounds really fun and wanted to give Sophie a shoutout!

  • I went to Oregon to visit my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and new baby cousin! (Love you Mira!) I went kayaking, bike-riding, and enjoyed spending time with my family.
  • I changed schools! It’s always hard being a new girl, but ended up getting into the routine just fine and making some new friends along the way.
  • I have a lot of homework. *Already*
  • I only read four books. Well they call me Katie That Bookish Girl for a reason.
  • I wrote a lot in preparation for NaNoWriMo.

Preparing for NaNoWriMo 2018 has been really fun. And by preparing, I mean hand-writing my first draft so that when the real deal in November comes around, I will be ready.

I was technically supposed to be done with my first draft today, but I still have a little more writing to do, which is OK because I still have all of September and October to finish.

Ah, the life of a young writer…
